Staff
teams are the way most organisations work to achieve their tasks ..(they)
are the place where work, social and emotional needs are met. The
failure to get the team right in meeting both work and emotional
needs can be seen in the high toll that stress takes
Weiner, R (1997) Creative Training Sociodrama and Team-building,
Jessica Kingsley, London and Bristol.
Teams are the primary building block of organisations and
to be effective, teams need to invest in their own development so
that they build vision, direction, values, relationship and results
especially in times of crisis, change and difficulty.
A successful team development process involves a number of phases:
1. *Briefing outlining context, problems, goals and practicalities
2. Information sharing individual team members share experience
and express desired outcomes with consultant (through email / phone
contact)
3. Negotiating contract involving all team members and consultant
4. Team development process exploring issues in line with
agreed contract
5. *Debriefing feedback followed by a report.
* involving a small group
The results of a successful team process will be seen in the development
of trust, co-operation, creativity, mutual support, flexibility,
leadership, learning.
